Join Our Team – Opportunity for Part-Time Employment

The Newfoundland and Labrador Lung Association is currently accepting applications from individuals who may be interested in joining our team at the Smokers’ Helpline.

The Helpline provides smoking cessation support and coaching to assist people in moving forward on their journey towards quitting smoking and staying smokefree. Services are provided over-the-phone, and through email, text and online.

We have an opening for a part-time smoking cessation coach, based at our office in St. John’s.

The main responsibility of this position is to provide information and support to clients over-the-phone and through our Online Chat on our website.

The Part-time Helpline Coach will work 1 or 2 evenings per week from 5-9pm Monday to Thursday (total of 4-8 hours per week) on a regular weekly schedule, for ex. Thursday evenings from 5-9pm. The specific weekday has not yet been determined.

Applicants should have experience and/or training in the field of health promotion, wellness or social sciences. Students in these fields may also apply.

Training on smoking cessation will be provided by the agency.

This part-time position may be ideally suited for a health professional looking for additional part-time work to supplement their income, or for a student in a field of study related to health and wellness such as nursing or social work.

Within a positive and supportive work environment, this position provides valuable experience in the treatment of tobacco addiction, and in working directly with clients to help them achieve their wellness goals.
