Food for Thought

We all know that the food we ingest impacts the digestive process. We hear the term “sugar rush” and we equate it with an energy boost. However, we know that if we consistently consume foods with excess sugar our cravings for them increase and we get caught up in this energy draining cycle constantly chasing the next rush.

Sound familiar?

Here is some food for thought:

Just as the food you ingest impacts your energy, the thoughts you ingest also impacts your energy. If you feed your mind worry, self-criticism and negativity your energy levels quickly drain. As nicotine is a stimulant, smoking can instantly provide short term relief to raise energy levels. However, the constant chase of replenishing energy levels becomes exhausting and it actually depletes energy in the long term.

Practicing mindfulness with regards to the thoughts we ingest can increase our awareness, help us to slow down and make healthier choices that align with our values. Just as our bodies need certain nourishment for healthy functioning, we also have to be careful what we feed our minds in order to optimize functioning.

Remember to nourish your mind every day with encouragement and positive thoughts. By doing so you reduce your tendency to react impulsively when stress and triggers arise. Do yourself a favor and make a conscious effort to ingest more positive thoughts and you will awaken to the fact that you have what it takes to reclaim your freedom from cigarettes,
