Ready to take a step towards quitting tobacco?

Week 1: Getting Started!

We encourage you to get started by thinking about your reasons for quitting smoking (for ex., the health benefits and more!). This will help motivate you!

Browse through the articles under “Explore Quit Tips” (above) –you’ll find practical tips for how to manage cravings and withdrawal symptoms, information on nicotine replacement products and medications, and resources to help you build your quit plan. 

This first week you may be receiving helpful tips through our Text Message Program.  If you’d like to sign up for daily texts, you can sign up here!

Week 2: Take a Step

If you feel ready to take a step toward a healthier future, know that you have the strength within you to make this change!

Quitting smoking is a journey, and you don’t have to tackle it all at once! Start by setting small, achievable goals to make the process more manageable.  

Here are some ideas:

  • You might want to start by reducing how much you’re smoking each day, designate smoke-free time such as mealtimes or while driving.  (You may want to set a quit date on your calendar when you plan to quit completely. It’s up to you!)
  • Try changing some of your routines around smoking and replace with healthier alternatives such as drinking water, chewing gum, or going for a short walk.
  • Plan ahead for how you can get through cravings without smoking.  Here are some tips to help manage cravings.
  • Consider keeping a journal to track your triggers and emotions, which can help you identify patterns and develop strategies to cope.
  • Surround yourself with supportive friends or family members who can encourage you along the way.  
  • Celebrate your progress, no matter how small!

 

Through this Online Group Program, you can also share experiences with others who understand your struggle.

We encourage our Group Participants to post in this secure forum.  Sharing a few words about your experiences, challenges and successes can make a significant different for each other as we navigate this journey together.  Whether it’s a tip that worked for you, or simply a word of encouragement, every contribution helps create a supportive community. We’re all here to uplift and inspire one another. Let’s keep the conversation going.

Remember, every small step counts, whether it’s reducing the number of cigarettes you smoke daily or finding healthier alternatives to cope with stress.
