Through a contract with Health Canada, revamped and delivered the “Smoke Free Program” originally developed by Health Canada. Program teaches primary level children and parents about the dangers of tobacco smoke.
Done in partnership with Eastern Wellness Coalition and community groups, to teach about healthy choices: eating well, exercising and NOT smoking.
“You Can Stop by Starting with Us” adult cessation program.
Also offers “Stop Smoking Program for Women” offered when interest is sufficient.
Education is provided on an individual and group basis and presentations and information sessions are offered in schools, workplaces and community groups.
Individual counseling offered to youth and adults. Priority referral for pregnant women.

What Works to Stop Smoking- A project completed in Rural Eastern, Eastern Health, last spring. Inservices were delivered to Eastern health staff and staff at Family Resource Centres around smoking cessation for women during prenatal and postpartum periods. Resources on pregnancy and tobacco have been complied and maintained at resource depot.
Information and cessation services offered to prenatal and postpartum mothers and their partners in a move to help reduce children’s exposure to second hand smoke.
Second-hand smoke posters placed in all licensed tobacco selling stores in region.
Incoming - Addictions Services accepts referrals for smoking cessation.
Outgoing – Referrals provided to physicians, SHL and ACT when appropriate
CARE Program - Nurses, physicians, and pharmacists are orientated to the CARE program.
Provides links to resources related to smoking.
