Health professionals and community
leaders throughout Newfoundland and Labrador are showing they care about tobacco addiction by
partnering with the Smokers’ Helpline through the CARE (Community Action &
Referral Effort) Program.
The Smokers’ Helpline would like
to extend a warm-hearted thank you to all health care providers and community
leaders who promoted the Smokers’ Helpline services and made CARE referrals
this past year.Asking the questions,
“Do you use tobacco?” and “Do you want help with quitting?” is leading to more
people accessing treatment and successfully quitting long-term. In 2008, over
1350 referrals were made by various health care providers and community leaders.
Together our efforts are making a difference.
The following professionals have
demonstrated outstanding support for the CARE Program in 2008. As top-referring
professionals, they will receive a special certificate of appreciation from the
Smokers’ Helpline.
